On May 7th, 2025, the Microeconomics Dashboard Team of FEB UGM participated in the 1st National Tripartite Consultation held in South Jakarta. This high-level policy forum brought together government institutions, employers, workers, academics, and international organizations to address the urgent need for a more comprehensive and inclusive social protection system in Indonesia.
The consultation was structured into four sessions that discussed: the current state and future plans for Indonesia’s pension schemes, regional experiences from Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, government strategies to protect elderly and vulnerable populations, expert perspectives from academia, workers, employers, and disability advocates
Two Micdash assistants, Gavin Alvaro Sitorus and Pragya Anastasia Meijile Purba, also contributed to the organizing committee and supported the implementation of the program.
This post also reflects on our earlier involvement in the Asia Expert Roundtable on Unemployment Protection 2024, organized by the ILO and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in October 2024. Represented by Dewita Nanda Prastiwi and Raniah Salsabila, the Micdash team played an active supporting role during the event.
Across both events, key issues emerged, including: low pension coverage, particularly among informal workers, limited fund sustainability, inadequate unemployment protection, the need for reform to achieve inclusive and universal social protection
Micdash remains committed to contributing to data-driven policymaking and strengthening Indonesia’s social protection landscape.
